Cape Council meetings resume

The annual summer hiatus comes to an end on Monday as City Council returns to its Council Chambers for its first regular meeting since June 13.

Council Chambers underwent a remodeling project during the four-week break. Council will be busy with a lengthy consent agenda listing five resolutions ranging from lot purchases to utility water supply, storage, disposal services and refurbishment of lift stations.

Council will be asked to approve four personnel resolutions related to ratification of the tentative collective bargaining agreement with the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades (general union).

Five public hearings await discussion by the council members. Land use and zoning changes for property located at 5104 Chiquita Boulevard is back on the agenda after being continued at two previous meetings.

Another land use and zoning change ordinance will be heard for 51 acres of parcels located west of Coronado Parkway to Palm Tree Boulevard in close proximity to the Bimini Basin project area.

A second twice-continued ordinance public hearing deals with the purchase of city property at the corner of Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Parkway by Creighton Companies.

Council also is expected to approve a community development block grant entitlement program for 2016-17.
