Gala of the Royal Horses coming to Lee Civic Center

2 min read

When many people in these parts think of a horse, they think of one turning and burning around three barrels at a local rodeo ring.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Lee Civic Center, these equine creatures are going to be seen in a totally different light, as elegant, majestic and prestigious animals of royalty.

Renowned riding master Rene Gasser presents the Gala of the Royal Horses, which is sure to be a great Valentine’s Day gift for any horse lover.

The Royal Horses of Europe are some of the most celebrated in history, favored for centuries by royalty, equestrian riders and bullfighters. This performance will celebrate the tradition, majesty, athleticism and grace of these revered creatures.

“The unique qualities of the Royal Horses single them out from all other breeds in the Equine world. Their physical beauty and grace, coupled with exceptional courage and nobility, make them an object of admiration and a source of inspiration for horse lovers everywhere,” Gasser said in a statement.

The event will feature a number of performances involving the Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner and Arabian breeds, and will show off the amazing beauty and maneuvers these horses are capable of, some of which have been culled from battlefields centuries ago.

Also to perform will be Spanish flamenco dancers, who will bring the sights and sounds of Spain to the area. They will be shown in authentic vibrant costumes accompanied by the mellow notes of a guitar.

The horses will be right there to dance alongside them.

Gasser is from a long lineage of equestrian riders going back seven generations. For the last 10 years Gasser has traveled worldwide with his various equestrian productions, the likes of which have only previously been seen at the famous riding schools in Vienna and Spain.

His experiences include Gala of the Royal Horses, Lipizzaner’s with the Stars, Equestra and El Caballo Blanco.
