South Cape trolley offers New Year’s Eve venue-hopping
Party-goers in the South Cape on New Year’s Eve can hop from venue to venue for just $5.
The second annual “South Cape New Year’s Eve 2015 Trolley Event” will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight. A $5 wristband provides unlimited trolley rides, with 10 stops in the downtown area.
David Delli Paoli, coordinator for the South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Associations, explained that the event does not involve specific drink or food specials at each stop, as is typical.
“It’s more for the trolley,” he said. “It is kind of a little service to keep the downtown hopping.”
The wristbands are on sale now at any of the participating trolley stops.
They will also be available for purchase Wednesday night, with no cutoff deadline.
“It’s to get you to the different places,” Delli Paoli said.
To avoid getting stranded, trolley riders should park their vehicle close to their end destination.
“The trolley stops running shortly after midnight, so park near where you want to end up for midnight,” he said.
Party-goers are also invited to book a room at any of the hotels in the South Cape.
“We strongly urge that people grab a room for the night and be safe,” Delli Paoli said. “Don’t drive.”
Beyond venue hopping, the wristbands give riders a chance to see something new.
“There’s a lot of great places downtown that people don’t realize,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity – for $5 – to go round and check out a lot of other places you might not have been before.”
Delli Paoli noted that all of the South Cape venues have something planned.
“Every place already kind of has their own thing going on,” he said. “They’re all going to have their own live music and drink specials and food specials going on.”
For example, BackStreets Sports Bar will offer live entertainment, 25 cent tacos, late-night shot specials and more. The popular Grayson Rogers Band will be performing at the Dixie Roadhouse.
The South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Associations tried out the service last year.
“It was the first year we had done it (for New Year’s Eve),” Delli Paoli said. “We had a much much bigger showing in the downtown Cape last year.”
