Cape man injured in motorcycle accident
A Cape Coral motorcyclist has been treated and released following a weekend accident.
As of Tuesday, Paul Stevens Astromovich, 56, had been discharged from a hospital within the Lee Memorial Health System, where he was taken Saturday after the crash, according to officials.
At about 4:53 p.m., Astromovich was traveling east on Diplomat Parkway East on a Honda motorcycle, approaching the intersection at Del Prado Boulevard, North. The Cape police reported that Astromovich continued through the intersection, then hit the median on the east side of Del Prado.
Due to the impact, the motorcycle overturned to the left and Astromovich was ejected. He apparently struck his head on the roadway and came to a rest, with the motorcycle also coming to a stop.
According to police, Astromovich sustained life-threatening injuries and was trauma-alerted to the hospital. At the hospital, officials determined that he had sustained a severe head injury.
Astromovich was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The crash is alcohol or drug related, police reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
