Updated: Arrest made in early morning shooting

Police have released the name of a man shot to death early Saturday morning and have arrested the man accused of shooting him.

The deceased has been identified as Mathew Pech, 27, of St. James City.

The Cape Coral Police Department says it developed information which indicated that Christopher Curtis Manley, 20, of 1102 S.W. 16th Terrace, Cape Coral, was involved in the shooting, which happened around 2 a.m. on Southeast 12th Court. A search warrant was obtained for Manley’s residence and was executed Saturday afternoon.

“Based on the evidence recovered, as well as other witness statements, Manley was charged with 2nd Degree Murder,” officials said in an updated statement released Saturday afternoon. “He is being processed at the Cape Coral Police Department and then will be transported to the Lee County Jail.”

One person is dead and two were injured in a shooting incident early Saturday morning on Southeast 12th Court.

Police were responding to multiple calls of a disturbance at about 2 a.m. when additional callers reported “several gunshots,” Cape Coral police said in a prepared statement.

Arriving officers found approximately 35 people in the roadway along with reehe gunshot victims. Two had received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

The third, however, was dead on scene.

No other information has been released and the identity of the victims is being held pening notification of next of kin.
