Child drowning reported at the Yacht Club
A child drowned Saturday at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.
A Cape Coral police office was flagged down at the facility 5819 Driftwood Parkway at 2:20. p.m. and was told that a child had gone missing in the water.
After a extensive search of the area by Patrol Officers, members of the Cape Coral Fire Department as well as CCPD Marine Officers, divers were sent in to the water and the child was located, but was unresponsivem offiicals said in a release issued Saturday afternoon.
The child was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead.
Notification of the next-of-kin has not been made, so no further information will be released at this time, officials said.
