India Fest at JetBlue this Saturday
The local India Fest is rapidly approaching, an annual event in Fort Myers that has continually grown in attendance year after year – so much, that after 26 years, a new venue has been announced.
“This year we are proud to announce our latest India Fest will take place at JetBlue Stadium Park, Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” said Ranju George, India Association of Fort Myers (IAFM) president in a prepared statgement. “Approximately 5,000 visitors attend our day-long event that is packed with music, cultural programs, dance, live musical performances and also features delicious cuisine, handicrafts, clothing and jewelry vendors.”
The annual event is sponsored by the India Association of Fort Myers, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness of cultural diversity through inclusion in our community and share all profits with those in need.
“Over the past 27 years of the India Fest, we have discovered that with the far-reaching audience our local news organizations have, we have been able to share more about India, its culture, and invite Southwest Florida to attend our India Fest program,” Ranju explained. “Come experience all that is India!”
During the outdoor event, IAFM will provide the local community with an opportunity to be exposed to all things Indian, from food, dance and music to artwork, collectibles and clothing from various regions within India.
Enjoy live entertainment on the outdoor stage throughout the day, including modern and classical dances, fashion shows and a variety of musical performances and plays.
Attendees will enjoy an unobstructed and shaded view of the performances, as ample covered seating will be provided. Additionally, an assortment of authentic Indian cuisine from several regions of India will be available for purchase on an a la carte basis.
IAFM is arranging for a variety of appetizers, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, desserts, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Handicrafts, jewelry, clothing, henna tattoos and books highlighting the Indian culture will also be available for sale. Also, during the lunch break, a local organization will present a brief yoga demonstration.
The cost to attend is $5, and parking is free. JetBlue Park is at 11500 Fenway South Drive, Fort Myers.
