Arbor Day Celebration at Trafalgar Middle School

The city’s Parks & Recreation Department will host the 3rd Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting Celebration Tuesday, April 22 ,at 2 p.m., at Trafalgar Middle School. The school is located at 2120 Trafalgar Parkway. The public is invited to attend.

Mayor Marni Sawicki and other city officials will join students at Trafalgar Middle in the student garden to plant fruit trees donated by the city and LCEC. Students have provided an estimated 2,700 pounds of fruits and vegetables to local soup kitchens and helped to feed 88,000 people.

This also will mark the 22nd consecutive year that the city of Cape Coral has been recognized as a Tree City USA. The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the U.S. Forest Service, sponsors the Tree City USA program. Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.
