Updated: Pedestrian struck by motorcycle dies at hospital; driver remains critical

The pedestrian struck Friday night by a motorcyle on Cape Coral Parkway just west of Coronado Parkway died of his injuries at Cape Coral Hospital.
Joseph Dellifranci, 60, of 4813 Apt. 4 Atlantic Court, Cape Coral, was struck while crossing Cape Coral Parkway shortly before 9:30 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Leslie S. Foreman, 57, of 6600 Industrial Dr., Fort Myers, suffered life-threatening injuries after being ejected from the bike and remained in critical condition Saturday, Cape Coral Police Department officials said in a prepared statement.
“The investigation revealed that a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Cape Coral Parkway struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road, fatally injuring the pedestrian and ejecting the motorcyclist, resulting in critical injuries,” according to the statement. “The motorcycle continued its forward momentum, striking another vehicle, a pickup truck, causing minor injuries to the driver before coming to final rest at the intersection of Coronado and Cape Coral Parkway. As a result of the crash, three people were injured, two critically. All persons involved were transported to local hospitals for treatment.”
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Thomas Bivona, 55, of 4920 Chiquita Blvd S. Apt 205, Cape Coral, suffered minor injuries after the then-driverless motorcycle crossed the media and struck his northbound vehicle while it was stopped in traffic on Coronado Parkway, officials said, adding he was taken to Cape Coral Hospital where he was treated and released.
Alcohol/drugs are not a factor in the traffic crash, officials said. THI Officers Satterlee, Green and responded, as well as Forensics Fordham and VA Seymour.

A motorcyclist and a pedestrian were critically injured Friday night after a collision on Cape Coral Parkway just west of Coronado Parkway.
Both were trauma alerted by ambulance to Lee Memorial Hospital. A third person, who officials say suffered minor injuries, was also transported as a precaution, officials said in a release issued by the Cape Coral Fire Department Saturday morning.
Firefighters from Engine 1 and Rescue 1 under the Command of Battalion Chief Christopher Cox to the report of an accident involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian at approximately 9:25 p.m., officials said.
“Firefighters arrived within moments due to the close proximity of the fire station to the crash scene,” according to the statement. “When they arrived they found two patients down in the roadway. Both were seriously injured and a Trauma Alert was issued for both of them.”
“Visual evidence at the scene and witness statements to firefighters indicate that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Cape Coral Parkway when a pedestrian crossing Cape Coral Parkway in front of CVS Pharmacy was struck.”
“Our firefighters aggressively treated the patients involved and they were rapidly transported to the hospital,” said Cape Coral Fire Department spokesman Michael Heeder in the statement.
No other information, including the identity of the injured, was immediately released.
The Cape Coral Police Department is conductling the investigation.
Eastbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway were reopened to traffic around midnight.
