Good Shepherd United Methodist Church to host annual Strawberry Fest Saturday

3 min read

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church will hold its fifth-annual Strawberry Festival and Arts/Crafts Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and everyone involved with the event believe it will be the biggest and best one yet.

The arts/crafts bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. both inside and outside the church, while the outside festival will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Pastor Tom Willetts said the main purpose of this Festival is to bring together and build up the community.

Theresa Bolton agrees with the pastor, saying she would like people to come, see what a great church they have and, hopefully, join.

“We want people to come see us and see the church and see how we live and what we believe and let that take hold,” Bolton said.

Proceeds will go toward the church’s community/outreach programs.

The star will be the fresh strawberries, with homemade angel food cake and biscuits available for sale, as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, peppers, ice cream, soft drinks and much more, including free popcorn.

More than 40 vendors will be selling arts and crafts, including original watercolors, jewelry, ceramics and other specialty items.

There will also be a bake sale inside where homemade goodies will be sold.

For the children, there will be a bounce house, horseshoes, ring toss and other outdoor games at no charge. For the “older kids,” there will be classic cars and Hot Chili Rods on display, which were such a hit last year. About 50 are expected this time, Bolton said.

For the second year, there will be animals from the Shell Factory for everyone to enjoy.

There will be music and entertainment throughout the day, including a jazz group called The Entertainers, a barbershop quartet, karaoke, and line dancing. There will be tents outside to sit out of the sun to eat and enjoy the music.

“There’s going to be a great amount of local talent and a lot of fun,” Bolton said. “We have a lot of members of the congregation working together and planning and making this the most fun event ever.”

There will be free parking and everyone is welcome.

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church is at 2951 Trail Dairy Circle in North Fort Myers.
