Matlacha Mariners’ Seafood Festival & Car Show in Cape Coral Saturday
The Matlacha Mariners will hold its 13th Annual Southwest Florida Seafood Festival & Car Show Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., at Sun Splash Family Waterpark in Cape Coral.
The event will raise funds for the Matlacha Mariners.
“This is our biggest event of the year and so far we’re attracting a lot of attention,” said John Jones, event coordinator said. “This could be our biggest and best year ever.”
The event showcases cars and some of the best seafood Southwest Florida has to offer. Miceli’s Restaurant, Olde Fish House Marina, Basket of Shrimp, KC & Son, Blue Crab Seafood and Cupcake Express will be serving all their specialties.
“I expect about 200 cars at the show,” Jones said. “Everything from street rods to sports cars to classic cars. There will be trophies for first and second place car show winners plus 12 ‘Best of Show’ winners.”
Those who wish to enter cars in the show need to complete the registration form on the Mariners website: www.matlachamariners.org. For those that register on or before Feb. 20, the pre-registration fee is $15, or $20 on the day of the show.
Tickets are $7 for adults (with one can of food for the local food pantry) and children under 11 are free with an adult.
“This year we have three bands,” Jones said. “The Grayson Rogers Band was named 2013 Country Band of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Band of the Year at the Spot Magazine Awards, so we’re very proud to have them as part of our lineup. Stringtown is one of the best drawing bands in the area and local talent Colton James.”
There will be plenty of ice-cold beverages, art and craft vendors and 50/50 drawings,
This year’s event is sponsored by Safeco Insurance, Roger Dean Chevrolet, Bouchard Insurance, Micelli’s Restaurant, Budweiser, LCEC, the Matlacha Mariners and the Matlacha Hookers.
This is a non-profit fund-raiser benefiting local charities. The Matlacha Mariners are a community oriented 501-c3 organization. For more information, visit MatlachaMariners.org.
