Inspirational event kicks off St. Andrew’s 50th
Everyone is invited to experience a truly inspirational performance by Tony Melendez at 6:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The performance is the first event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Andrew in Cape Coral.
A number of other celebratory events are being planned throughout the upcoming year in recognition of the church’s 50 years.
Melendez, who was born without arms, overcame his disability by learning to play the guitar with his feet. He has become known around the world as a singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist.
He has played at many religious venues and events, including World Youth Day, but it is believed to be his first appearance in Cape Coral.
Melendez, now 54, also will deliver a spiritual message at his two performances. The first performance at 1 p.m. is primarily for the St. Andrew School students, but both performances are open to the public. There is no charge to attend the performances.
