Cape jewelers gear up for Valentine’s Day

There is a plethora of jewelry for individuals to choose from this Valentine’s Day that is guaranteed to leave a smile on your loved one’s face.

Diamond jewelry remains one of the hot gifts to give.

Zak’s Jewelry, 1314 Cape Coral Parkway East, vice president Alison Polo said diamond-studded earrings are always a good gift for Valentine’s Day.

Something new this year, dancing diamond necklaces also make a good present.

“It’s a diamond that is hung in such a way that it constantly moves and constantly catches the light,” she said of the necklace.

Colored diamonds are also popular and perfect to show your affection this Valentine’s Day.

“Pink, yellow, black, chocolate, blue, champagne as well as white, we have a pretty big selection of colored diamonds,” Polo said. “The pink is the newest and catches the most eyes, I would say.”

She mentioned the shop can customize just about any piece of jewelry, adding a special touch to an individual’s choice of diamond or setting.

Travis Jewelers, 2109 Del Prado Blvd S., brand manager Ryan Pinto said colored diamonds especially stud earrings make an easy gift for anyone, no matter what kind of relationship they have.

Gemstone tennis bracelets and gold bracelets are a great gift for that special someone, too, Polo mentioned.

John Michaels Diamond and Jewelry Studio, 1331 Cape Coral Parkway East owner John Michael said charm bracelets with beads are also selling really well as gifts especially for Valentine’s Day.

Engagement rings, a popular item every year, remains a hot ticket piece of jewelry for this February.

“We are noticing a lot of people looking at engagement rings,” Pinto said.

Shop owners are seeing a trend of individuals going back to the basics, in terms of engagement sets.

Pinto said diamond solitaries in a Tiffany-style mounting is simple, yet elegant and beautiful.

Michael said bigger, colored rings are a hot item this Valentine’s Day, as well, like lemon quartz and blue topaz two popular stones for rings this holiday.

“We try to stick to natural colors,” Michael said.

He mentioned with the high cost of gold lately, silver is very popular, as well as other white metals.

In the necklaces category, he suggested the white metals, such as white gold and silver, are popular this year for Valentine’s Day gifts.

“The peace sign and the heart are very popular,” Michael said.

Pinto, on the other hand, said although his store is not receiving a lot of calls for necklaces, he does carry a very nice line of pendants, including beautiful freeform colored stone pendants.

Michael said pendants offer a vintage feel, which makes them popular for a Valentine’s Day gift.

Polo mentioned Zak’s offers a large estate jewelry collection, which is a great place to find that perfect, vintage gift. The collection ranges from antique diamond rings to gold watches and heirloom diamond bracelets.

Pinto suggested a watch for either gender is a functional gift one can give as a Valentine’s Day present, or any day, for that matter.

“We have a lot of ceramic watches that we have ready for Valentine’s Day,” he said.

Polo said used Rolex watches seem to be a hot seller as gifts for men, too.

Sea life jewelry star fish, turtles and sea horses Pinto said are also selling extraordinarily well. “That we carry in sterling silver.”

Michael suggested if a customer buys a special piece of jewelry from his store this Valentine’s Day, they will include a box of chocolates from Send it Sweetly and flowers from Patty’s Flowers.

The three small business owners have put together a Valentine’s Day gift package consisting half dozen red roses, dozen gourmet chocolates and silver heart pendant that can be engraved for $149.
