Cape Chamber says it cannot organize Red White and Boom next July 4th

2 min read

After lengthy conversations, requests for sponsors and diligently exploring ways to accomplish our goal of “the show must go on,” the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral has announced the end of the Red, White & BOOM! annual Fourth of July celebration.

While the Chamber has been the organizer of this popular patriotic festivity that drew some 20,000 people every year, it does not have a title sponsor for 2014 and beyond and so cannot commit to the event, a prepared statement issued Tuesday states.

Numerous business people and others have made the show a reality for so many years, including the most recent title sponsor, RE/MAX Realty Team in Cape Coral, which partnered with the Chamber from 2010 to 2013.

“Red, White & BOOM! was one of the City’s greatest events every year, but the reality is we can continue the tradition only when the business community is willing to support it with their time, treasure and talent,” said Mike Quaintance, president and CEO of the chamber since 1997 in the prepared statement. “All three components are necessary when organizing these large extravaganzas.”

The good news, Quaintance said, is the organization can better focus on the needs of the business community through advocacy, education, and business development. Already in the works is an Advanced Leadership Class with Keiser University, additional business seminars such as customer service and marketing topics, and more business networking events.

“By focusing on activities such as these, the Chamber will help create stronger businesses that can grow and expand their workforce, which in turn increases tax revenues and reduces the tax burden on the residential community,” he explained. “The Chamber vigorously appreciates the support it has received over the years from the City of Cape Coral, sponsors, vendors and volunteers, for they were the catalyst that brought this awesome event to our community.
