Police make arrest in 5/3 Bank robbery
A former Cape Coral man has been arrested in Monday’s robbery at the 5/3 Bank on Pine Island Road.
Jeffrey Blaine Robinson, 30 of Hollywood, FL., was charged with bank robbery after police, who had released surveillance photos, received a tip. Robinson was identified in the photos from the robbery and bank employees identified Robinson in a photo line-up, police said in a prepared statement issued by Cape police late Tuesday.
Robinson is accused of entering the 5/3 Bank at 1801 N.E. Pine Island Road, handing the teller a note implying that he was armed with a gun and demanding cash.
The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of money and he fled the bank.
Detectives began investigating and the suspect description as well as surveillance photos were distributed to the media, capecops.com and SWFL Crimestoppers. A tip was received by police stating that Robinson was the man sought and he was arrested in Fort Myers early Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Robinson’s previous address was listed on Southwest 9th Court in Cape Coral.
“Good old-fashioned detective work coupled with community partnership landed another criminal behind bars in pretty short order,” police spokesperson, Lt. Tony Sizemore said in the release.
