Drug disposal program available at Cape Coral Police Headquarters
The Cape Coral Police Department has begun an “unwanted drug disposal program.” Beginning Monday, residents can safely dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs at the Cape Coral Police Headquarters main lobby.
A large green bin, that resembles a post office mailbox is now located in the lobby for people to drop off their unwanted or unused medication 7 days a week.
The program was started because of the success and popularity of the drug drop-off events that were held a few times throughout the year, usually at area pharmacies. Now people need not wait for one of the drop-off events to dispose of their unwanted medications.
Prescription medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples and even pet medications are accepted.
Needles, syringes, inhalers, aerosol cans and a few other items will not be accepted. The specifics are detailed on the drop box itself.
