Pair of Cape criminals sentenced to prison

1 min read

A pair of Cape Coral criminals was recently sentenced to state prison.

Kurt John Cole, 42, of 1210 S.W. Fourth Court, received 50 months for two counts of grand theft of a firearm, three counts of dealing in stolen property and three counts of providing false identification to a pawnbroker.

Robert Walter Waters, 29, of 4418 S.W. 25th Court, received 15 months for grand theft and criminal mischief.

Cole was arrested in September when he stole firearms, among other items, from a pastor who let Cole live at his residence for a few months while he was down on his luck. Cole pawned the items at local pawn shops.

Waters was arrested in January after he dismantled a residential air conditioner unit to retrieve the copper coils.

“Our officers and detectives work very hard on their investigations,” Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the CCPD, said. “Many people believe that the work is done once the arrest is made. We know that the work is not complete until a strong case is prepared and we partner with the State Attorney’s Office to put criminals in prison.”
