1 min read

The city of Cape Coral will host the fifth annual Canal Cleanup Day on Saturday, March 24.

Residents are invited to help remove debris and trash from city waterways. Since the event began, volunteers have collected more than 13,500 pounds of trash from city canals.

Registration for volunteers will begin at 8 a.m. at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Pavilion, 5819 Driftwood Parkway. Volunteers will be provided with trash bags, gloves and assigned areas to work at registration. Dumpsters for collection of debris will be placed in various locations throughout the city. Waste Pro also will provide all volunteers with special T-shirts for the event.

This event is sponsored by the city of Cape Coral, Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. and Waste Prop in concert with the Keep America Beautiful, Great American Cleanup beautification effort.

Lunch will be served at noon at the Yacht Club pavilion and is provided by Papa John’s Pizza and CiCi’s Pizza. The $5 parking fee in the trailer lot at the Yacht Club will be waived for registered volunteers.
