Report: Both drivers ‘mutually at fault’ in accident
Police have determined that a Cape Coral driver and a motorcyclist were both at fault in a November crash that sent both to the hospital.
An officer with the Fort Myers Police Department found that Candace Cohowcz, 28, of 3721 S.W. 12th Ave., and Jamie Hughery, 33, of Fort Myers, were both “mutually at fault” in the Nov. 6 crash on Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers.
“No charges or citations were issued in the crash,” Shelly Flynn, the spokeswoman for the FMPD, reported via an e-mail last week.
On Nov. 6, police responded to an accident in the 4800 block of Cleveland. Hughery had been headed north on a motorcycle when a Toyota, driven by Cohowcz and traveling south, attempted to make a left-hand turn.
Cohowcz crossed the northbound lanes and collided into the motorcycle.
Hughery, who was wearing a helmet, was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital. Cohowcz sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital with one of her passengers, Mario Andrew Arnez, 23, of 1423 Kelp Lane, Naples.
Cohowcz and Arnez were treated and released following the accident.
Hughery was discharged from the hospital later that month.
