Cost of Freedom Tribute and American Heroes Air Show continues
The community will continue to pay its respect to America’s veterans today through Sunday as The Cost of Freedom Tribute and American Heroes Air Show continues at the Lee County Sports Complex.
The Traveling Vietnam Wall will be on display all day Friday and Saturday with a variety of events in between.
Friday’s schedule includes various school day events for students; music by BGGarner Vietnam Veterans of America No. 1037 from 4-6 p.m.; a ride of honor and flag line; a performance by the Oasis High School JROTC Drill Team at 7 p.m. a performance by the Calendar Girls at 7:30 p.m.; and a performance by the South Fort Myers High School JROTC Drill Team at 8 p.m.
The all helicopter air show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with a Naturalization Ceremony also set for 11 a.m.
One Sunday, an Open Chapel Worship Service is set for 10:30 a.m. and a Closing Ceremony, complete with a Color Retrieval and Taps, at noon will conclude the four-day tribute dedicated to “honor, respect and remember” veterans.
The event outside Hammond Stadium on the ballfields is free and open to the public. Those attending are invited to bring family, friends, flags and chairs to pay tribute to “those who have served our great country and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.”
