Bokeelia woman charged with murder
A Bokeelia woman was charged with second degree murder Monday after police answering her report of a disturbance found her standing over a dead man.
Correnia Bice, 49, reportedly told the 9-1-1 operator she’d had a fight with a male inside a residence and he needed an ambulance.
Deputies arriving at the residence in the 5800 block of Luloma Lane shortly before 3 am. approached the front window where they saw Bice waving for them to come inside. They found her standing over a deceased elderly white male who had sustained numerous injuries including stab wounds, officials said.
Bice reportedly had blood on her hands, feet and clothing, as well as in her hair.
Further investigation revealed a Styrofoam plate duct taped to the wall directly across from the rear door entrance. The words “I’m going to kill you so come on” were written with what appeared to be red lipstick. The word “kill” emphasized with red and yellow writing.
Due to the nature of the incident, Homicide Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
Bice was subsequently charged with second degree murder and transported to the Lee County Jail.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
