2 min read

Approximately $60,000 worth of jewelry and a laptop was reported stolen Tuesday night from a home in Cape Coral.

Cape police responded to a report of a burglary at about 8:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of Northeast 16th Terrace. A woman reported that she returned home from work to find her large jewelry box empty and sitting on her bed.

The jewelry box had been sitting on her dresser, and it had contained about $60,000 in jewelry, according to a report. After noticing the jewelry missing, she began looking around the bedroom and found the glass slider pried open.

She reported that she also was missing her laptop, valued at $3,000.

The report states that it appears other areas of the home were gone through, including a linen closet which contains medications and over-the-counter drugs. An acid reflux medication was taken from a night stand.

Four fingerprints were recovered from the outside glass of the bedroom slider. The prints will be submitted to the forensics unit as evidence.
