Nights on the Parkway returns Friday

2 min read

Nights on the Parkway is set to return Friday, Dec. 16, bringing with it another go-round of shopping, dining and fun as business owners in the CRA showcase Cape Coral’s entertainment district.

Held the third Friday of every month, the event builds on the success of the one that came before it by offering a new theme.

To coincide with the holiday season, December’s theme is “Holiday Giving for the Cape Coral Caring Center.” Plans call for collecting canned food and goods to be distributed to the needy throughout the city.

“This is an amazing opportunity to give back to the community,” said Judy Heller, owner of Su Casa Furniture Boutique.

Heller is a member of SCUBA, which stands for South Cape United Business Association, a group of like-minded business owners working together to make downtown a success.

“Nights on the Parkway” is the brainchild of that group. And as they approach their third go-round of the event, Heller said it’s been working as intended.

Nights on the Parkway has been introducing Cape Coral’s downtown to people who didn’t know how vibrant it is, she said.

“People are just happy to have an event in South Cape, where the businesses are open and there’s something to do,” Heller said. “They’re discovering stores and businesses they didn’t know were here.”

SCUBA and Nights on the Parkway are also having another effect, which is bringing the business community in South Cape close together, united under one cause.

“I think it’s amazing the camaraderie we’ve developed,” Heller added.

Activities for children, live bands, discounts, artist demonstrations and even the big man himself, Santa Claus, are all going to be part of the show that night.

Heller promises a fun event for all ages, one that shouldn’t be missed. When the sun goes down on Friday, that’s when the Parkway will spring to life.

“It’s amazing to me the amount of people coming out, discovering all that South Cape has to offer,” she said.
