Man accused of sexual battery
A Cape Coral man has been accused of sexually assaulting a physically disabled woman under his care on multiple occasions over several years.
The 54-year-old man, whose name is not being released by the Cape Coral Breeze, was arrested Nov. 23 and charged with one count of lewd lascivious battery disabled person. The state has yet to file official charges.
The man remained at the Lee County Jail Thursday on $75,000 bond.
According to an arrest report, the Department of Children and Families notified the Cape police that a woman was reportedly being forced by her caregiver to perform sexual acts on him. She is a partial quadriplegic.
During an interview, the woman confirmed what DCF told police. She said it had happened many times over the years, and Nov. 20 was the last time.
She told detectives that the man has threatened to withhold medical and physical care if she does not perform the acts, according to the report.
He also reportedly battered her in the past, threatened to kill her if police were called and left her in bed for days at a time without cleaning her up.
The man denied all allegations when questioned by detectives. According to the report, he commented that “all people see is a girl in a wheelchair.”
He was taken into custody and charged. He has a court date on Dec. 27.
