CCPD partners with Harry Chapin for food drive
The Cape Coral Police Department is partnering with the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida for a holiday food drive.
The CCPD will collect non-perishable food items from Dec. 1 through Dec. 22, when it will deliver the goods to the collection center in time for the holidays.
There are many Cape residents who rely on the food bank for food every day, and the number of families is growing, according to police officials. The CCPD is aware that many of those families receiving help do have children.
Visitors to the Cape Coral Police Headquarters are encouraged to bring a food donation to drop off during the drive. A collection bin will be in the lobby.
“The Cape Coral Police Department is busy during the holiday season between the Thanksgiving meal for seniors at the Tony Rotino (Senior) Center, our Adopt a Family Motorcycle Run for toy donations and delivery, as well as our Shop with a Cop program,” Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the CCPD, said in a prepared statement released Thursday.
“We have a great group of people here at the department who care about this community and love to give back,” he continued. “This is why we have partnered with a great organization like Harry Chapin.”
