The Cape Coral Police SWAT Team will be at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1619 Del Prado Blvd in Cape Coral on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from noon until 5 p.m. collecting food donations for the Police Department’s food drive.

The department has been collecting food donations as part of an employee food drive since Dec. 1 and is running the drive through Thursday, Dec. 22 .The department has already collected nearly 500 pounds of food for the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The SWAT Team will have two SWAT vehicles on display at Walmart during the event. People can meet members of the team, see some of the equipment that the team uses and even have your picture taken with the team. And of course, donate a non-perishable food item.

“This is a great way for the SWAT Team to give back to the community. We realize that there are people in need right here in our city and this is a great way for us to help out.” said Sergeant Carlos Mena, CCPD SWAT Team Leader, in a prepared statement.
