‘Stars of Tomorrow’ competition Nov. 18-19
The 20th annual “Stars of Tomorrow” scholarship program, which celebrates the arts and talents of elementary through first year college students, will hold its competition and command performance this weekend.
Stars of Tomorrow Director June Sommerfield said this year’s competition will feature 66 talents who will compete in vocal, drama, dance and instrumental.
“We are very pleased about that,” she said.
The Cape Coral Council for Arts and Humanities will provide first and second place awards to every age group in every competition.
Richard Knapik, the president of the Council for Arts and Humanities Inc. will be the emcee for the two days of competition.
“They are another group of highly talented outstanding students appearing in this years program,” Knapik said in a prepared statement.
The competition will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. The winners from those two days will perform in a command performance and be presented with awards on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m.
Chamber of Commerce Director Mike Quaintance is the master of ceremonies and will help present the awards.
Fort Myers Beach City Manager Terry Stewart will begin the program by singing the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America.”
The students who will perform on Friday include Michael Celebrado; Kelly Weisse; Florencia Almada; Trisha Moore; Gabriella Giliberti; Ilia Wolfe; Romina Almada; Amanda Ellegood; Matthew Hovis; Angelina Kovacs; Veronica Stewart; Kelly Tackett; Stephanie Vitale; Rachel Salerno; Hae Yang Chang; Thomas Capollo; Adriane Oria; Megan Welsh; Spencer Barney; Rachel Salerno; Abriana Dutton; Kimberly Brett; Emmie Bileau; Tyler Omundsen; Jasper Walker and Erin Suggs.
On Saturday the students who will perform include Zachary Swaska; Morgan Bruewer; Matthew Aparte; Jennifer La Rue; Chelsea Johnson; Noen Perez; Allison Westhafer; Andrew Zidek; Emily Longoria; Keith Ganesh; Alissa Shea; Steven Placke; Noelle Aparte; Alissa Shea; Zachary Milos Scovronek; Megan Salerno; Gianna Appolonia; Anna Anderson; Jessica Westhafer; Sammi Flynn; Brandi Bonner; Katy Garner; David Hoyt; Gianna Appolonia; Danielle Marcucci and Katy Garner.
Sommerfield said each student will have three minutes on stage.
“I encourage everyone to come and support the youth of our community,” she said.
Tickets to attend the show are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12 years old.
The performances will be held at the Cape Coral Cultural Park Theatre.
