FMPD continues investigation of accident involving Cape woman
The Fort Myers Police Department is continuing to investigate a recent traffic crash that involved a motorcyclist and a Cape Coral driver.
At 2:01 p.m., Nov. 6, police responded to a crash in the 4800 block of Cleveland Avenue that involved a 1995 Toyota Corolla and a motorcycle, which had been traveling north on Cleveland prior to the accident.
The Toyota, driven by Candace Cohowcz, 27, of 3721 S.W. 12th Ave., had been traveling south. According to police, Cohowcz tried to make a left-hand turn, crossing the northbound lanes and colliding into the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, Jamie Hughery, 32, of Fort Myers, was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Cohowcz, who sustained minor injuries, was also taken to the hospital, along with her passenger, Mario Andrew Arnez, 23, of 1423 Kelp Lane, Naples.
Hughery remained hospitalized in serious condition as of Wednesday.
Cohowcz and Arnez were treated and released, officials stated.
The traffic accident remained under investigation as of Wednesday.
