Cape emergency dispatcher accused of selling imitation designer purses, handbags

Two people, including a Cape Coral emergency dispatcher, are accused of selling imitation designer purses and handbags.

Contracia Tyecka Hopkins, 35, and Andrei Demetrius Hopkins, 42, were arrested Friday and booked into the Lee County Jail for counterfeiting of private labels $1,000 or more. As of Monday, they each had posted bail.

Neither could immediately be reached for comment.

Contracia Tyecka Hopkins has been a city employee for four years.

As a result of the arrest, she has been placed on paid administrative leave pending a future administrative hearing, Cape police officials reported.

Hopkins reportedly was formally charged by the State Attorney’s Office.

She and Andrei Demetrius Hopkins have court dates set for Dec. 19.

According to officials, Hopkins’ current annual salary is $36,400.
