2 min read

Cape Coral Fire Fighters are wearing pink duty shirts this week, Oct. 24-29, in recognition of the the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” Days that are taking place across the country. This afternoon, Mayor Sullivan proclaimed October 24-29 as “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” Days in Cape Coral.

All city employees and residents are encouraged to wear pink this week to help raise awareness for cancer in women. This is also an opportunity to honor those women who are battling cancer, or those that have lost the battle against this horrible disease. This awareness campaign isn’t just about breast cancer, but all cancers that effect women. Early detection and regular screenings are key to success against cancer.

This week is a follow-up to the Pink Heals tour that traveled through South West Florida on Oct. 5. Four pink fire trucks traveled through the area and the country to help with this awareness campaign.

The “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” is a national campaign that uses the leaders of communities such as firefighters, police officers, teachers, etc., to show women that they are the most important people in a man’s life and we will don the color pink to show them that we care!
