SCUBA – the South Cape Unified Business Owners Association – will hold its first Nights on the Parkway event from 6-8 p.m. this Friday along Cape Coral Parkway, Southeast 47th Terrace and other venues along the downtown corridor.

Patterned after the popular Art Walk nights held in downtown Fort Myers, the new event will be held monthly to draw families to the South Cape with live entertainment, themed fun, and special offerings.

“There’s just a myriad of entertainment that is being placed strategically around the parkway,” said Gloria Raso Tate, Raso Realty, of Friday’s event.

Tate is one of the many volunteers involved in the mini-street fair organizers plan to hold monthly on the third Friday.

Carole Glorioso, of John Michael Jewelers, has been the primary organizer, Tate said.

Business owners in and around the Cape’s downtown hope to encourage families to walk the downtown and visit the shops and businesses while also enjoying local entertainment

The theme of the first Nights on the Parkway event is centered around Halloween. Free candy, face painting and clowns for the kids, and a costume contest for four-legged family members will be among the offerings.

Other activities will include lots of live music and other entertainment- a fashion show and performance by the Hot Flashz Dancers at Razzle Dazzle; an array of artists displaying their work while painting outside of Artists Dreams Gallery; cooking on the Green Egg at Out Door Kitchen; and the canine Halloween costume contest at the Doggie Bakery.
