Lee County Domestic Animal Services invites all pet lovers to have a “howlin’ good time” at the Third Annual Doggy Dash, a fundraising effort to benefit the Animal Care Trust Fund.

This year’s Doggy Dash has a Halloween theme is being hosted by Miromar Outlets, located at 10108 Corkscrew Road in Estero, on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All funds raised will support homeless pets in Lee County and assist the pets of disadvantaged owners who cannot afford to provide care.

Individuals may walk with their dog at the event or form a team to walk with their pets. The possibilities for forming teams are virtually limitless. Businesses such as banks, health clubs, hospitals, retail stores and schools are only a few of the possibilities. Professional or social organizations are encouraged to form teams too as a fun way to advertise their group while supporting a good cause. Walkers are encouraged to collect pledges from friends and associates prior to the event to sponsor their walk or they may make a donation and walk with their pet.

“The Doggy Dash not only supports a good cause but will provide a rare opportunity for dog owners to have a day of fun with their pets,” said Mimi Schwartzel, event co-chairman.

Participants will shop with their dogs as they cruise the Doggy Dash walk route. More than 140 Miromar shops and restaurants plus pet-related vendors will be open for walkers and shoppers. Featured activities include a Pet Costume Contest, Pet/Owner Look-A-Like Contest, games, pet-related vendors and a raffle.
