Applications still being accepted for ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ program
Applications are still being accepted for the 20th annual “Stars of Tomorrow” scholarship program, which celebrates the arts and talents of elementary through first-year college students.
Stars of Tomorrow Director June Sommerfield said she is extending the application deadline for auditions. She encourages those who wish to participate to call her immediately for an audition time at 239-772-8180.
“We still have spaces for that audition. As long as I can take them, I will take them,” Sommerfield said.
The private audition with a judge will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., at the Cape Coral Cultural Park Theatre. Any student in elementary, middle or high school can fill out an application for the competition, along with first-year college students from Southwest Florida.
Auditions will be held for vocal, drama, instrumental and dance. Applicants can enter into more than one talent if they choose.
Students will have a maximum of three minutes for their two pieces that are required for the audition.
The competition for the 20th annual “Stars of Tomorrow” scholarship program will be held Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. The winners from those two days will perform in a command performance and be presented with awards.
The Cape Coral Council for Arts and Humanities will provide first and second place awards to every age group in every competition.
Sommerfield said in honor of Make A Difference Day, she is asking everyone to bring a non-perishable food item to the Cultural Park Theatre during the competition and command performance.
“It will help us make a difference for a lot of people,” she said about the donations.
