SWCCNA candidate forums planned
The Southwest Cape Coral Neighborhood Association will hold its first planned forum for candidates seeking seats on city council in the Oasis Charter Elementary School Cafeteria on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m.
The forum will feature candidates from District 2 and 7.
A second forum for candidates seeking to represent District 3 and 5 will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, again at 7 p.m. at the same location.
These forums, as well as all SWCCNA meetings, are open to all. Anyone interested in having their questions presented to the candidates is asked to submit those questions in writing to the moderator, Marilyn Stout, before the meeting is called to order.
In the 25 years since its inception the SWCCNA, formerly the Southwest Cape Coral Homeowners Association, has been an active advocate in support of the citizens, property and business owners in the Southwest Cape. During those years the association has been instrumental in defeating a proposal to restrict the use of the Chiquita boat lock to reduced daylight hours. Currently SWCCNA is involved in the review and subsequent redesign of plans for a proposed second parallel Chiquita lock. Among other things, the association has successfully fought proposals to allow commercial construction on the west end of Cape Coral Parkway and has been instrumental in having the exterior of the pumping station erected during the SW1 UEP project designed to replicate a residential structure to better fit into the existing neighborhood.
Anyone interested in the activities of the association or in becoming a member is encouraged to attend one of the monthly meetings, normally held on the second Wednesday of the month. Additional information can be obtained by e-mail at president@SWCCNA.com or by visiting the website www.SWCCNA.com
