Victim in apparent accidental death identified

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim found floating near the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp Monday morning. The victim is Philip Schweers, 45, of 11531 Blue Warbler Drive, Fort Myers.
On July 4 at 11:20 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the report of a person floating face down in the water approximately 100 yards west of the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp, 17800 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers.
A boat with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission retrieved the body from the water and transported it to the dock. The victim, a white male, approximately 45 years old, was deceased.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the death, which appears to be accidental.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
