City properties used for storage broken into, burglarized
Three city of Cape Coral owned properties used for storage and training were recently burglarized, according to a police report.
Cape police responded to a report of some burglaries in the 200 block of Southwest Fifth Street.
A supervisor reported that the three properties, including a duplex, had each been entered and several items were missing.
The total value of the stolen goods is $14,455, the report states.
The man said he arrived at the properties Tuesday and noticed that the garage door had been smashed on one side area as if it had been backed into by a vehicle. Further inspection found that the units had been broken into.
The properties were last known to be secure Friday evening.
The missing items are an air conditioner, air-conditioning condenser, a hot water heater, pancake air compressor, eight two-way radios, 140 extension cords, 50 aluminum banner pipes, three light fixtures, four wall lights, soffit and a box of screws.
The supervisor reported that the units are all used for basic storage and training for the Cape Coral Fire Department.
The city will file criminal charges.
