$9,000 worth of jewelry taken from home

Nearly $9,000 in jewelry has gone missing from a Cape Coral home.
Police responded to a burglary in the 3500 block of Southwest Second Avenue at about 6 p.m. Sunday. A woman reported that she left the home that morning and returned later to find pieces of her jewelry were gone.
The pieces are a ring valued at $6,000, a necklace valued at $1,500 and three additional rings, according to a report. The total loss is about $8,800.
The woman returned home to find the bedroom closet shut but the closet light on. She told police that she noticed that her jewelry hangers had been knocked over and there was jewelry on the floor. A receipt was lying in the middle of her bed and the French doors to the master bedroom were open.
Officers noted that it appeared only certain items were taken and a large amount of costume jewelry was left behind, according to the report.
The woman said she does not have jewelry rider on her insurance policy.
