Power Squadron to host Audio/Visual Flea Market

2 min read

The Cape Coral Power Squadron is hosting a flea market this weekend that will cater to the music, movie and literature fan in all of us.
The Audio/Visual Flea Market will feature hundreds of previously viewed and owned DVDs, CDs, VHS Tapes and used books for sale.
Power Squadron Commander John Hodgkinson said there was a concerted effort on the part of their Member Involvement Committee to host a unique flea market, and the audio/visual theme made sense.
The Power Squadron also hosts nautical themed flea markets, but the A/V approach was a way to open in up to everyone, he said, plus it’s easier to move stuff around.
“With the nautical flea markets we were hauling all kinds of stuff in and out. With the audio visual flea market, everything is small and easy to move and highly profitable,” he said.
The Cape Coral Power Squadron boasts more than 400 members, more than any other Power Squadron in the nation, according to Hodgkinson.
With more than 40,000 members nationally, the club’s focus is to further boating safety through education and training, both of which the Cape’s Power Squadron does regularly.
Hodgkinson said the club not only offers official training and classes, but also casual information for anyone who walks through the doors of their downtown Cape Coral office.
“We function as a service to the community and not just in training. People walk into the office every day for basic information,” he added. “We train people but we’re also a source of information.”
No item will cost more than $5 at the flea market, Hodgkinson said, but items will more than likely be in the $.50 – $3 range.
Used Dell Computers, donated to the club from the state of Florida, also will be available to purchase.
A pancake breakfast will run concurrently with the flea market, and all proceeds raised will go back to the club’s operation, and in turn back to the community, Hodgkinson said.
The Power Squadron is at 917 S.E. 47th Terrace. For more information on the Audio/Visual Flea Market, call them at 549-9754.
