Argument leads to arrest on outstanding warrants
A man wanted on an embezzlement charge out of Nevada was picked up in Cape Coral when police responded to a disturbance call.
Todd Ryan Wissink, 40, of 3023 S.W. 26th Court, was being held at the Lee County Jail without bond as of Friday afternoon. A “fugitive from justice,” he also is wanted on a warrant out of Sarasota County for larceny, according to jail booking records.
The Nevada warrant was issued out of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Officials at the department could not be reached for comment.
According to an arrest report, Cape police responded to a home at 3023 S.W. 26th Court in reference to a disturbance call early Thursday morning. Officers made contact with a woman who stated that her son, identified as Wissink, and her daughter-in-law had been arguing on the back porch.
Wissink told police that he and his wife were arguing about their child and money. He stated that they were just arguing, and at no time was there any physical altercation. Wissink’s wife was no longer at the home when officers arrived; there was no indication of a physical altercation.
Wissink’s mother confirmed the two were only arguing, the report states.
A check through dispatch revealed there were two warrants on Wissink. The one from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office was issued Dec. 8, 2009, and the Nevada one was issued Dec. 8, 2006. Both agencies wished to extradite.
Wissink was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail.
A woman who answered the telephone at Wissink’s address had no comment.
