Woman accused of trying to hit officer with vehicle
Cape police arrested the driver of vehicle after she reportedly attempted to hit an officer with her Jeep and then fled from the scene Tuesday.
Solange A. Jose, 27 of 3014 Country Club Blvd., was charged with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police, and violation of probation.
A Cape police officer stopped Jose in the 600 block of Del Prado Boulevard South for a traffic violation at around 3 p.m., officials said. As the officer approached the vehicle, Jose reportedly attempted to hit him with the car and then fled northbound on Del Prado. The officer followed Jose’s vehicle with lights and sirens engaged; however, Jose disregarded the officer’s attempts and continued to flee, police said.
The pursuit continued north to Pine Island Road then west on Pine Island. As Jose approached Chiquita Boulevard, she saw units from Cape Police and Lee County Sheriff Office. She then made a U-turn and headed east on Pine Island Road. As she drove eastbound, she struck the front bumper of a Cape police car, causing minor damage to the cruiser.
A LCSO deputy followed Jose southbound on Nicholas Parkway. The deputy attempted to slow the vehicle but Jose maintained control and continued southbound. Eventually, the LCSO deputy was able to stop the vehicle at Nicholas and Santa Barbara Boulevard.
Jose was arrested and charged. It was unknown if any injuries were sustained by those involved, officials said.
