Live music, dancing, an open bar, a sit-down dinner and a raffle will be among the attractions at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village’s annual fundraiser that will be held March 15 at 6 p.m.

Let’s Get Historical is held each year to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the museum’s grounds. Some projects that are on the top of the list include: replacing the wood railing surrounding the walkway, replacing Shore Haven’s windows, renovating the Packing House, new display cabinets, benches, replacing the garden fence with added chicken wire and the addition of a Sanibel Plan exhibit.

“One of our biggest and most important things is to replace the wooden railing that surrounds the walkway, it’s quite expensive, we’re estimating that at $22,000. We’re also moving ahead with plans to renovate the Packing House. We need more storage in there and we need a small office. We’re taking a wild guess, but we think that’s going to cost around $200,000,” said Emilie Alfino, executive director the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village.

This year’s theme, “Dining and Dancing in the Days of the Ferry,” will feature a dinner provided by the Sanibel Catering Company. Guests will have their choice of chicken marsala, pesto-crusted Atlantic salmon or an English sirloin. Music and entertainment will be provided by Kelly & Shelley, a husband and wife duo who have been performing together for over 25 years.

“It’s going to be under a tent on the grounds, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Alfino said.

A new focal point this year is the addition of a raffle. The four prizes include two dinners, one at the Mucky Duck, and the other one at the Green Flash; four tickets for the Key West Express; and a cruise for four to Useppa Island.

Tickets are $150 each. Sponsorships are still available at the $1,000 and $500 levels. For tickets or to become a sponsor, contact Alfino at (239) 472-4648 or send an email to info@sanibelmuseum.org.

Gold sponsors for this year include: Allegra Design & Printing, Breeze Newspapers, Doc Ford’s, Gene’s Books, John Grey Painting, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts and Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. Silver sponsors include: Bank of the Islands, Captiva Cruises, Heidrick & Company Insurance, Ireland Yacht Sales, Island Inn, John R. Wood Real Estate and TOTI Media.
