Lions Club begins annual Christmas tree sale

1 min read

The Sanibel Lions Club kicked off its annual Christmas tree sale the day after Thanksgiving. Cliff Nolan, Lions Club officer, said all profits will go towards charity. Last year, he said they raised around $10,000.

“The money goes to the people who need it most. Most of our services are off-island. The Lions have always been a vision-related charity,” Nolan said.

All the trees are being delivered from Michigan again this year.

Some of the charities the Lions Club donates to ae Southwest Guide Dogs, which is based in Tampa, and Trailways Camp.

“We try not to give everything to one place. We like to spread it around,” he said.

The Lions Club will be set up on 2341 Periwinkle Way, which is right next to the old gas station. The club is the only supplier of Christmas trees on the island.

“Richard Johnson is a long-time Lion and he always gives us our spot,” Nolan said.

The site will be manned by Lions volunteers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., seven days a week. For a fee, the Lions Club will deliver the tree and set it up in your home.
