St. Michael’s to hold SHINE informational session on Medicare
St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church invites island seniors to a SHINE Workshop, from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the church’s Parish Hall, 2304 Periwinkle Way. The discussion will be led by SHINE liaison Camilita Aldridge.
SHINE, (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), is a component of the Area Agency on Aging for SWFL, an invaluable local resource for Medicare participants. Its purpose is to help seniors through the health insurance process, understanding their options and finding a Medicare-related health insurance and prescription drug plan that works best for their individual needs.
The session, “Understanding Medicare – Open Enrollment,” is the only such event scheduled on Sanibel thus far for the 2016 Medicare enrollment period. Interested island seniors should bring their questions. Open Enrollment for Medicare prescription drug or Medicare Advantage plans is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.
The session is held courtesy of the Area Agency on Aging for SWFL. For more information on the SHINE program, contact the Elder Helpline at 1-866-413-5337. Individuals may also contact Wendy Warner at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church by calling (239) 472-2173, visiting www.saintmichaels-sanibel.org. The church is located at 2304 Periwinkle Way.
