Time is ticking to tip your favorite server for the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum’s Celebrity Island Dinner
Although tickets for the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum’s Celebrity Island Dinner are sold out, you can still tip your favorite server online up until the day of the event which is Monday, Oct. 3 at Trader’s.
“We raised a lot of money last year from the Celebrity Island Dinner but this year’s event is shaping up to be an even bigger money raiser for the Shell Museum’s youth education programs. This year’s Celebrity Island Dinner sold out in record time. Online tips started coming in last week and with the addition of new servers, including the Shell Love Bug, this should be the most successful Celebrity Island Dinner so far,” said Paul Gulbrandsen, development associate at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum.
One of the newest celebrities, the Shell Love Bug which was decorated by Pam Rambo for National Seashell Day will make a special appearance the night of the event. Guests are able to tip the car before or during the dinner.
Joe Archambault, owner of Trader’s, is one of the key players that makes the magic happen for the Shell Museum.
“He really helps us out. He does a really nice job and keeps the prices down so we can make this fundraiser as lucrative as possible for the museum,” Gulbrandsen said.
Robin Cook, executive vice president of Sanibel Captiva Trust Company will be returning for this year’s disco beach themed dinner.
“This particular fundraiser is to raise money for the children’s programs which bring children out here that otherwise couldn’t come. They’re also working on bringing programs to the schools so that’s why I want to help,” Cook said.
She was the highest tipped server in 2014 and she is hoping to make that goal yet again.
The other Celebrity Island Dinner servers for this year include: Ric Base, Mark Blust, Mary Bondurant, Brian Holaway Terry Igo, Joel Johnson, Holli Martin, Shelby Peters, Robin Roberts and the Shell Love Bug.
