The start of the 2014-15 Sanibel boys’ basketball season will be a learning experience for the players and head coach, as Duane Gigeous takes over the head reins.

“I am learning about the kids, but what I’ve seen so far, is they are a hard-working and intelligent group,” Gigeous said. “But they’re still learning, as well.”

Gigeous’ philosophy on coaching the Middle School level is teaching the fundamentals, while learning how to consistently play good offense and defense.

“I want to see the growth of the players on the court and as people,” Gigeous said. “I just want them to improve and grow their confidence.”

The season will start Thursday, Dec. 4, with eight games on the schedule, running through the first week of February.
