The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) Board of Directors recently welcomed four new members: Sarah Ashton, Mike Baldwin, Vasanta Senerat, and Richard Yanke.

Ashton, a broker associate for Royal Shell Real Estate, moved to Sanibel in 2001 and has been biking Wildlife Drive ever since. A former board member and chair of the Sanibel and Captiva Chamber of Commerce, she will serve on the Advocacy Committee for DDWS.

Baldwin has lived on Sanibel for 14 years after retiring as vice president of technology at Millennium Petrochemical. Until last year he continued to consult on health, safety, and environmental issues in the oil, chemical, and energy industries. He has already taken an active role in the DDWS Advocacy Committee.

Certified Public Accountant Senerat has been operating her accounting practice in Fort Myers since 1994 and Sanibel since 2004. She has served on the boards for the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, Fort Myers Women’s Network, Southwest Florida Addiction Services, and others. She has accepted the position of board treasurer for DDWS.

Yanke’s vast professional background includes chief information officer and information technology director in the banking industry as well as health care, public accounting, education, and business impact analyses. He will head the newly formed DDWS IT Committee.

As a non-profit organization, DDWS works to support J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s mission of conservation, wildlife and habitat protection, research, and public education through charitable donations and Refuge Nature Shop proceeds.
