Historical Village adds three board members
The board of the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, Inc. has appointed three new members: Gail Migliorini, Sally Duffy, and James Clivie Goodwin. The three new members are still subject to election by the museum’s membership at its annual meeting on Feb. 25.
Migliorini hails from North Dakota and learned an appreciation of local history from her mother.
“She made sure we understood where we came from and what that stood for,” Migliorini said.
A graduate of the University of North Dakota with a degree in Elementary Education, Migliorini spent most of her career in the telecommunications industry as director of International Sales, traveling the world in Europe, Asia, Latin and South America.
“The exposure to different cultures, histories, and peoples has instilled in me a love of learning about the past,” Migliorini said.
Duffy has been a volunteer and docent at the museum since 2008, doing everything from guiding tours to serving on fundraising committees. Duffy has more than 40 years experience in counseling, is an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy and anxiety disorders, as well as conflict resolution. She is licensed as a professional counselor in the state of Ohio. Duffy holds a bachelor’s degree in History and Education from Trinity College, and a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from John Carroll University.
James Clivie Goodwin started as a docent at the museum in 2013 and quickly became a valuable asset to the village. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy Postgraduate School with a master’s degree in Physics. He went on to the University of Southern California to earn another master’s degree in Systems Management. After retiring from the Navy, Goodwin worked at various professional services companies, eventually landing at IBM as a project manager. Upon his retirement from IBM, Goodwin moved his principal residence to Sanibel. He has been a member of the board of his Naval Academy Class Association, a non-profit organization, for more than 25 years.
These additions bring the number of board members to 11.
