CHR puts truck in service

A 2004 Ford F150 truck with 38,000 miles was recently donated to Community Housing Resources (CHR) by the City of Sanibel. The truck is very valuable for CHR. Ken Shearer, CHR maintenance worker, has used his own vehicle up to this point and is very happy to now have a vehicle provided for his official use.
After some minor repairs and updates, the truck is now in full use for everyday maintenance.
“We are so grateful for this donation,” said CHR executive director Kelly Collini. “Having a truck is essential for daily maintenance and repairs at CHR’s 74 rental units and this truck meets our needs perfectly.”
CHR thanks the City of Sanibel for the donation and especially Frances Slane who read a board meeting article in the newspaper on the need for a vehicle and thought of CHR. A debt of gratitude is owed to Richard Johnson, CHR board chair, who followed up on the offer and coordinated repairs to bring the vehicle up to top notch condition.
CHR is a non-profit organization that partners with Sanibel to provide affordable housing to families and individuals who work in and/or serve the community of Sanibel. Today CHR administers housing for 150 island residents in 10 rental complexes plus 14 limited equity ownership homes throughout Sanibel, thus facilitating local workforce for island businesses and ensuring economic diversity in our community.
The second annual CHR Mardi Gras Party fundraiser is slated for March 1, 2014, at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. This year’s party features a live band in addition to a Cajun dinner and silent auction.
