As the Sanibel Historical Museum & Village continues preparations for its Nov. 7 re-opening, president Alex Werner recognizes the many people responsible for the museum’s record-breaking turnout last season.

“The list is endless, and I want to thank everybody for all of their hard work, beginning with our tireless docents and volunteers,” Werner said. “The museum had an extremely successful year, with record-breaking attendance and more children attending than ever before.”

Werner thanked board of directors Dorothy Donaldson, Bill Bachman, Jan Halliday, Paula Newton, Gayle Pence, Karl Rodman, Debbie Staley and most recent member Jim Frizzell.

“It was the hard work and great ideas of this board that led the way for last year’s achievements,” Werner said. “They have lots of great ideas for the upcoming season, too. Planning is well under way for our annual fundraiser, docent training is scheduled, and we have several special events in the works. We hope to surpass last year’s success with the help of all of our devoted volunteers.”

The museum, 850 Dunlop Road, which operates as a nonprofit organization, re-opens to the public on Nov. 7. It operates Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults with those younger than 18 admitted free.
