Party series coming to Community House

2 min read

Anyone looking for new ways to have fun this season will be happy to know there’s something fresh on the Sanibel entertainment scene this year.

The Sanibel Community House has announced it will host a series of five unique “house parties” from October through April. Each party will feature a distinctive theme, with special music, dancing, entertainment activities, food items and beverages to match the theme. Each party features not only SCA, but another Island nonprofit beneficiary as well.

The lineup includes: the Zombie House Party on Oct. 19; Honky Tonk House Party on Nov. 10; a Wedding in the House on Feb. 22; the Swamp House Party on March 15; and the House of Soul and R&B on April 13.

The Zombie party, for example, gets a jump on Halloween, as the widely-popular Zombie theme comes to Sanibel. Party-goers can wear Zombie garb & makeup, or just come as you are and laugh at the others.

Food at the house parties include snacks, served “tapas style” to allow partiers to mingle, move around and focus on the entertainment. Alcoholic beverages are available by donation. Admission is just $20 per person for individual events, or $100 for the entire series (series buyers receive five free drink tickets).

Community House volunteer Nicole Decker, who has coordinated plans for the party series, said her goal has been to get creative and innovative.

“We felt it was time to do something fresh that would crank up the excitement level a bit,” she said. “Fortunately, there are some great musical and entertainment resources here in Southwest Florida that we’ve been able to tap for these events.”

The new House Party series is also an effort to provide activities of interest to the broad community.

Those interested in attending the House Parties should contact the Community House at 472-2155 to make their prepaid reservation.
